I agree – timeliness is the key to resolving conflicts. Sitting on them hoping they would go away leads nowhere, I have seen relatively small conflicts grow out of proportion just because the avoidance tactic allowed for the resentment to build up to the extent where it seemed impossible to go back. thank you Melissa for your input!

Conflicts can be different: a problem between two co-workers, between an employee and a manager or an individual one. Regardless of its type or form any conflict should be resolved in a timely manner as it can get in the way of work and make the business less productive. Very useful tips, Natella!

Wow Jason, as usual, a very insightful and interesting point from you. I didn’t even think of it that way, but you open up such a great subject. Now that you made me think of it, there are old school managers in today’s workplaces who still try to operate with “my way or highway” mentality. It becomes clear to me where it comes from – from the decades of not getting away with it but working in environments where that was the norm!! This discussion is very timely actually as I am currently writing a chapter on conflict resolution for my book “Quality In Quality Out”. Thank you very much again for your comments.

What is considered to be Non-negotiable behavior in the workplace in 2018 was much more common during that time. Behavior that was deemed as acceptable or tolerated back then, would be totally unacceptable now and even grounds for firing with cause or worse. In today’s workplace Social Media has given every teammate a stronger & louder voice. In my opinion this change has led to advancements in conflict resolution not only for the individuals but also the companies they represent.
